Work on 7 Days to Die XUI offline and see changes without reloading the game. Hosted vanilla files are current as of version 3.3; load your own folder or XML files when you want to test a custom XUI.
The real game fills these in live from your character; this tool has no
live game to read from, so every {binding} resolves to blank by default -
bars show 0% fill. Set representative test values here instead.
A mod's windows.xml is usually a patch - <set>/<append>/<setattribute>/<remove> operations by xpath, not full <window> definitions. Loading one alone only shows windows it defines from scratch; windows it just modifies (e.g. windowCompass) need the vanilla base merged in first to be previewable.
Use this as the clean game base, then add your modded windows.xml as a patch below.
(load windows.xml first)
Checking more than one overlays them together on the canvas, each positioned by its own anchor - handy for seeing how several HUD pieces actually sit relative to each other. The left editor always follows whichever single window you last clicked into.
Click any box in the preview to edit its attributes here (updates the XML on the left live). Shift+click a box to select its parent instead. Drag on empty canvas (or shift-drag anywhere) to marquee-select a group and drag it together. Clicking inside an element's tag in the code on the left selects that whole element - if it has children (e.g. a <window> or a <rect> wrapping other rects), the whole group is selected together; click further inside a nested element to narrow the selection down to just that one and whatever's inside it.
Guessed defaults for [name] colors. Edit to match your real styles.xml.
